COVID 19
Wed 18 Mar 2020Dear Parents/Carers
In light of the Covid-19 update and the announcement to close schools on Friday, we understand there will be lots of questions and anxious parents.
There are lots of elements of the enforcements that we are unsure of. We don’t know all the answers or how long the closure will be for. The provision for ‘key workers and vulnerable children’ is something we will look at in due course and will provide information as soon as we have it.
What we do know is that we will do our best to work together to ensure the children are happy for the rest of this week. We will make sure they know we as a school, are there for them and we will stay in touch throughout our closure.
We have already sent out. educational packs and online resources to help the children learn at home. But more importantly, we want you all to stay safe. We appreciate your support with this very difficult situation and thank you for your understanding.
Take care and God Bless

Get Caught Reading
Tue 11 Feb 2020World Book Day 2020 (Thursday 5th March)
To commemorate World Book Day this year we are organising the following events:
Get Caught Reading Competition
From now until World Book Day we will be running a ‘Get Caught Reading’ campaign to promote the fun of reading. We are challenging children to send in their most inventive photos of themselves reading in unconventional places. These could be places that inspire them, notable landmarks or just somewhere that lets them escape into their imagination, while reading a good book.
Please e-mail in your entries with the subject: Get Caught Reading to office@tockholes.blackburn.sch.uk
The deadline for entries is 9am Thursday 5th of March. Please send your entries as soon as possible, as staff will also be sharing their entries on the school website and Twitter in the coming weeks.
Entries will be judged by a team of children and adults for their creativity and winners will be announced and awarded with a small prize, on the next day in Friday Worship.

It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet.

Coronavirus Advice from the Department for Education
Tue 04 Feb 2020The government is closely monitoring the spread of the Coronavirus and is taking action at home and abroad. The overall risk of Coronavirus to the UK remains moderate. As a parent/carer you should not be unduly worried about the possibility of your child catching the virus. Children should continue to attend school as normal. As with any virus, we need to promote basic hygiene practices, such as washing hands, always sneezing into a tissue and the use of antibacterial hand gel.

You should not be unduly worried about the possibility of your children catching the Coronavirus.
There is no reason why your children should not continue to attend their early years, school or further education setting as normal.
We recognise that some families or children may be planning to travel to China during the forthcoming half term period. If so, please refer to the FCO’s latest travel advice via the link above.
What action you can take
A UK wide campaign has been launched to provide clear advice on how to slow the spread of Coronavirus.
Please help to support the campaign which promotes basic hygiene practices, such as regularly washing hands and always sneezing into a tissue, to stem the spread of viruses.
