Worship

At St Stephen's Tockholes, we take part in Collective worship daily.  Our Collective Worship can be the whole school community together or in smaller Key Stage groups.

On a Monday morning we take part in whole school Collective Worship where we launch the week's focus. This is a valuable start to our week. It also gives us opportunity to give the children a 'Big Question' linked to our spiritual development.  On Tuesday we participate in whole school Prayer & Praise, linking our values and celebrating God through whole school singing.  On a Wednesday, within our key stage groups, we use Picture News Collective Worship, which demonstrate the presence of a living God.  Children discuss news stories in a Christian context and develop their spirituality.  On Thursday Father Nick joins us to deliver worship.  On a Friday we end the week with a celebration worship - where we celebrate achievements and identify how everyone has been working on 'becoming the very best that they can be' all week.

Our Ethos Group open and assist in the delivery of our daily Collective Worship.

Collective Worship provides pupils and adults with the opportunity to:

  • Engage in an act of community
  • Express praise and thanksgiving to God
  • Be still and Reflect
  • Explore the 'Big Questions' of life and respond to national events
  • Foster respect and deepen spiritual awareness
  • Reflect on the character of God and on the teachings of Christ
  • Affirm our Christian values and attiudes
  • Share each other's joys and challenges
  • Celebrate special times in the Church Calendar

THE POWER OF PRAYER

At St. Stephen's we recognise the power of prayer and the comfort it brings. It is a time of quiet contemplation, a time to ask for forgiveness, a time of peace and a time to reflect and be thankful. We respect the diversity in our school community. Each week our children and staff are invited to write prayers inspired by the worship value/message or simply to sit and think about the theme. These prayers are displayed on our prayer tree which stands in our entrance corridor so that members of our school community and visitors can read them. Some of these prayers are read as part of worship.

Please let us know if you would like us to pray for someone or something in particular by submitting an e-mail using the contact form below.

Praying Together

Biblical Value

Inspiring God’s children to achieve their full potential. We are a small school but big enough to care and inspire all children. We provide a safe Christian environment for all to work and play together.
