About Us

St Stephens Church of England School Tockholes has been at its present site since 1894. The previous day school was situated in the church yard, this consisted of one small room which was cold in winter and hot in summer. The new school served very well until a new extension was added in 1969. This extension housed a purpose built kitchen enabling fresh meals to be prepared on the premises for the first time. An extra classroom and headteacher's study were also provided making much better facilities for both pupils and staff.

In recent years the school has been modernised and many improvements have been made. 2002 saw a new classroom and play area added to the infant classroom, with a office for the headteacher and secretary the school was much more spacious. A lovely new floor and library shelves were added to the hall together with a computerised library system. A big improvement was made to the junior end of the school when in 2005 a classroom was added for the use of year 3 and 4 children. Recently we have also built our adventure trail on the school field a colourful shruberry along the edge of the playground. We now have a lovely bright modern and workable school in a lovely rural setting.
